[attr="class","likedo"] [attr="class","likedotitle"] [attr="class","likedotitle2"]Spring Festival Award Ceremony! [attr="class","likedoinfo"]Fireworks lit the air with a brilliant flare of the joy of the Lunar New Year. The fireworks were a tradition that goes back time immemorial, and while some Pokemon had to go hide in cupboards because of the scary noise, there was festivity in the air, hanging in the scent of blackpowder and food. The evening lights were all lanterns and store lights, as vendors took advantage of the contest to get as much profit as they could from the thrilling event, rich traditional food being served and people walking around with the loot from the day. And in the floating stage, there was cheering and clapping and people shouting out Contesteers' names as they each vied for their personal favorite. Our favorite presenter once again stepped forward, her movements the picture of immaculate grace, as she excitedly calmed down the clapping for a moment, bringing out the participants in another procession, their Pokemon with them. There was some traditional music playing in the background, the rare Guzheng tones haunting the air with their beauty. "Thank you so much, everyone, for coming today! We thank our amazing, incredible participants, and our thrilling crowd for their time and effort! Who else here thinks that the Lunar New Year was welcomed with resounding success?" She asked the crowd, who replied with valiant clapping. "All the participants were simply outstanding, but it's decision time! We'll be announcing the winners of this, the Spring Festival Contest!"The suspense began to drive the crowd wild - announcer-chan really knew what she was doing. Taking out a stylized red enveloped, a classic sight of the time, she opened it up, reading. "The judges have carefully reviewed each performance and tallied up the scores. Just as the announcer was officially about to announce the closing of the contest and dismiss the participants, one of the judges called her over; it was a woman who appeared to be in her late 20s with long back hair and wearing a lab coat. She certainly didn't seem to be the type that would judge such a thing, but nonetheless, there she was. The announcer nodded quietly as the judge spoke to her, though what was said couldn't be heard due to the din of the curious audience.
With a final nod, the announcer went back to where she was, and began speaking. "One last thing, everyone! It would appear that one of our judges, Professor Adriel Yucca, has one last thing to say to each of the contestants. Not sure what she has to say, but it should be quite interesting in any case!" The announcer then went back over to this woman, handing her mic over to her as a few of the spot-lights moved over to the judge's table to focus on the woman as she was about to speak.
After clearing her throat, she began "First of all, I want to congratulate all six of you on a job well done. Even those of you who lost; trust me when I say you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of." In that moment, she shifted her attention to Rosario. "You've certainly earned this win. My only advice is don't let this victory go to your head. No matter how good you are, there's always room for improvement. That saying hold true for everyone, regardless of their walk in life. Still...you have every right to celebrate tonight, so I hope you enjoy your victory."
Then, she looked to Andrea. "I can imagine that you must be a little disappointed that you didn't get first place. But you should definitely be proud. It was rather close between you and Mr Gardner. I'm still in awe over your act in the Performance Round, especially the color-changing trick you used with your Milotic. Frankly, my only regret is that the both of you couldn't claim the grand prize...sadly, that isn't possible. Nevertheless, you should be proud of what you accomplished here tonight. Keep up the good work, as you definitely have a bright future ahead of you."
Next, was Arietta "You're certainly one of the more energetic coordinators I've seen. I can tell that both you and your Pokemon were having a lot of fun out there, which, in turn, was a lot of fun to watch. However, I couldn't help but notice a few moments in your Performance Round where you hesitated a bit. As much as I hate to say it, that's a large art of what cost you your win. From now on, I want to see more confidence from you. It's clear you have the talent for this, so trust me. You have absolutely nothing to be worried about. I look forward to seeing what you bring in the next contest."
And now for the less-than-lucky contestants. Adriel started with Vinny, keeping the same warm smile she had when she addressed the other contestants. "Mr Pugliesi...you certainly have a very...unique style. To be honest, I wasn't entirely sure what to think at first. It's very rough, and it needs a lot of work, but I can definitely see a lot of potential; all it needs is a bit of polish. If you work hard at it, you'll definitely bring something truly unique to the contest scene. Either way, I can safely say that I'll be looking forward to seeing more of you in the future."
She then turned to Honoka. "Miss Sato...from what I understand, you're a breeder by trade. However, you definitely have the potential for this. I'm sure you must be disappointed by your loss, but I want you to know that, despite your rocky start, your act in the Performance Round was my personal favorite. I'm especially impressed with how you taught your Sneasel to play such a delicate instrument, and you serve as proof that not all acts in a contest need to be flashy and over-the-top. A bit of subtlety goes a long way. It is my sincere hope that this loss won't discourage you from participating in any future contests."
And last, but certainly not least, was Yumi. "Miss Tasukai...I must be blunt. I honestly had no idea what was going on during your Appeal Round. It was...unlike anything I've ever seen, and, with all due respect, I'm not quite sure if I mean that in a good way. However, two things were made clear; you have a lot of passion, and you've obviously taken great care in raising and training your Pokemon. Not to mention you definitely stepped up your game in both the Battle and the Performance Rounds. Like Miss Sato, I'm hoping to see you in future contests, because you've definitely got the potential for this."
With a nod, she decided to wrap things up. "Either way...to those of you in the top three congratulations. You've certainly earned it. And to those of you who lost, don't feel discouraged. As I've already said, you definitely have the potential for this. Regardless of whether or not you decide to continue participating in contests, keep working hard. I'm confident that you will all accomplish great things...anyway, that's it for me. Thanks for letting me hijack the contest for a bit."
Thus, the woman waited to see if either of her follow judges had anything to say. If so, she'd let them say their piece, then eventually hand the mic back to the announcer, allowing her to finally bring the contest to an end. She could only hope her words would help those who didn't win feel better. Of course, she wasn't just saying what she said to make them feel better; she meant every single word. Either way, she had a feeling that the next set of contests were going to be very interesting.

| How is it that I've fallen in love with you? How can it hurt this much? Never before have I ever wanted someone this much. If I say I miss you about a thousand times, will it reach you? If I try crying and fussing, will you know my feelings? |
● waiting, contemplating... @tag / just a one-shot for Andrea for right after the announcements were made / 678 Due to the announcement of the winners taking place not too long after the Performance round, Andrea had almost no time to change out of her costume, and was now waiting very anxiously for the announcement of the results. Never mind that she still had her full costume on (complete with white make-up) but she was feeling all kinds of nervous as of late. Ugh, did I do it? Did my risk pay off…? She thought to herself, wondering if somewhere out there, back in the Kalos region, her parents were watching this show. That’s twice I came so close and fell short already, but now… please let now be the time I actually get this… she continued to think, biting her lower lip nervously.
Her purple-and-pink Milotic was still by her side—as she’d already recalled her Roselia back into its containment unit to rest—and the Water-type looked up worriedly towards her owner. “Miiiii?” she heard from somewhere beneath her, and the young Coordinator looked down to see that her Pokémon companion had a look of utmost concern on its face. “I know, ‘Lex, I’m deathly nervous…” she muttered, unable to stop biting her lips as hard as she could manage. After what felt like an eternity, the emcee finally walked back on the stage, holding a red envelope in her hands. Please let it be me, please let it be me, please let it be me… she continued to think to herself, crossing her fingers as hard as she could manage.
As she listened to the announcement of the honorable mentions, she began to rock back and forth from where she was standing, breathing out a sigh of relief once that portion was over. Now that the actual list of winners was being announced, she waited with bated breath, her crossed fingers starting to hurt so much from all the pressure she was putting on them. Once the third-place winner had been announced, she then closed her eyes and hoped not to hear her name next… but after a few moments she opened her eyes and looked around in shock; was that her name that the emcee had called just now? Wait a second… wait, what? What’s going on? Se…second place?! She thought, her own mind grinding to a standstill as she stood there stock-still, unable to fully process what had just happened.
Soon after the winner had been announced, and it then hit her like a ton of bricks—she’d fallen short once again! Oh… oh, schei… she continued to think in the back of her mind, still staring in shock at the stage, her Water-type now looking around as if outraged. “Miiii! Milotic!” her companion cried out, before whipping its tail around and looking upwards to Andrea, “Mi?” she continued with an uncertain tone—but the young lady had already hidden her face in her hands, never mind the fact that she still had the white makeup on her face. This isn’t the first time this has happened… I always come so close… she continued to herself in the back of her mind, hiding her face in her hands as the Water-type then circled around her, to fend away anyone who’d come near her.
True enough, she could hear the clamoring of people headed her way, and she knew she had to get out of the area at once. Quickly balling up the Water-type that was standing guard around her, she then picked up the lacquer umbrella she’d used as part of her performance routine, and made her way down the stage as fast as possible; never mind that her makeup was melting down due to her eyes welling up. Oh, Arceus… what if Tom saw this on national TV? What would he say? She thought to herself, quickly pushing her way through a crowd and looking for the changing room, which she reached with some difficulty.
Once she’d managed to get the door open, she then slipped inside and locked it shut, before crying her heart out as freely as she dared.

The teenage dream was more put together, allowing herself a soft brush in the dressing room once her Performance Round was over. It seemed like time just stood still for a while, taking deep breaths, feeling a sort of blissful peace now that it was over.
Her first contest, in Veria. It was over.
She knew her Performance Round was a little rough. She had scrapped together something passable considering her state, but passable was what it was.
Still, wasn't it a neat trick for her to turn her own indecision into the basis of her performance, and use her Mawile's natural confusion too?
Yeah. It was. She knew that.
She was beaming as she stood with the others for the ceremony. She gave them all a hard look for the real honest and true first time... but no, she was here for the crowd. Her attention slipped to them quickly, giving out an energetic wave.. ignoring any sense of restraint to tell them all hi.
And then.. it started.
She started listing off the honorable mentions, with Arietta pretty sure of how this was going to go.
And at the start, she was correct. The first two were exactly what she expected.
The first person listed was Vinny, and in Arietta's generous opinion.. fair. His amateruish and rough style could be considered.. charming.. she supposed, but Arietta gave the crowd that with more style and purpose. The judge made it obvious too. Yeah. Whatever he could possible be giving the crowd was done better by her. He best figure out how to turn whatever he wanted to do into something.. better, and fast.
Honoka was the second, which gave Arietta a slight bashful smile. Yeah. Not a surprise at all. Although Arietta had in no small part made sure of that, she could tell that this was just a fun experience for her and expected that outlook was all too obvious to the judges. Come back when you're serious about this, lady.
The other non-coordinator was next.. which was the surprise. Wha? It's just.. Yumi at least seemed to take the event with more seriousness than some of the others, and Arietta had to admit that she had put her all in the contest. Arietta saw potential, and wondered if Yumi might consider a career change. Eh. Probably not after this. Still, she had expected Yumi to place.. and instead the last honorable mention would have..
Wait..
That was.. where she..
Third Place! The Cute Princess of the New Year, Arietta Connally!
She gasped.. looking so shocked for a moment. That open mouth slowly shifted into a smile.. and then a giggle. She had placed! She had placed! Arietta had placed! The girl looked ready to jump for joy, hit with this happy surprise like an oncoming truck. Taken aback, but in the best of possible ways.
She felt a warm feeling in her heart and waved to the crowd quickly, giving herself a moment of the spotlight before the next winner was announced..
Her little moment.
Third place.
---------
A moment of basking in the glory later, Arietta found a bit of fear rising in her stomach again. Oh no. The judge was going to talk about them in front of everyone again. What other embarrassing thing would they announce to everyone?
But then.. surprise surprise, two pointless speeches later.. Arietta was basically told in front of everyone that she just needed to believe in herself more. The cherry on top of her perfect moment. That was not only exactly what she needed to hear.. it was the perfect narrative. Arietta nodded along with Professor Yucca's words, and then gave a sweet little bow in an attempt to show her thanks.
There was almost nothing wrong with this moment. This was almost everything she had ever dreamed of.
Almost.
There was one thing sorta raining on her parade though.
This Andrea person. She had, against her better judgement.. eyeing the other competitors. She had for a moment felt sorry for Andrea, mostly just because the Professor's speech to her was so pointless. The last thing second place needed to hear was that they did nothing wrong. It would have been more helpful to just be blunt with her. Which Arietta planned on doing.
Because Arietta was kinda annoyed. Someone who had placed higher than her shouldn't' be distraught. That was a honor. You best recognize that. She had intended to walk right over to Andrea and make her feelings known.. but then Andrea started to run off.
With her make up running.
....
Really?
That was enough to make some heat rise to her cheeks. No. None of that.
She nudged through the crowd with some sense of regret, promising she would be right back. She was just going to check up on her friend. She would sign autographs in a moment.
(Someone had asked for one, right? She would have sworn someone did.)
She followed the girl as she rushed into the dressing room. She expected it to be locked shortly after, but that was fine. She didn't intend on making conversation. She knocked on the door as loud as her little hand could manage, and then she spoke quickly.
"Hey. Like.. just so you know, the way you're carrying yourself is shameful. To the 4 of us who were put below you, and to every coordinator who dreams of even getting second place. Ugh. " Arietta sounded disgusted, and she didn't hide it from her youthful voice. " Also.. find some charisma if you want first place. You got Pokemon, you got smarts, but you don't got any charm."
Then she walked away. She didn't come her to chat. She went back to the crowd to enjoy her third place moment, to promise any budding fans more, and to enjoy the day.

You don't know them like I do -- Tagging Andrea Benoit , I was already planning a one shot, but your character directly affected by character in a way that she couldn't ignore, so there is a bit of interaction she's forcing on Andrea, but I did it in a way that shouldn't require a reply. If it does, we could do another thread for it. Apologies for my character being a butty butt. Hehe. Your character wasn't hiding their emotional state, looking shocked and confused, and then with the make up starting to run and such.. plus after the judges statement Arietta sorta kept looking at her anyway. Arietta was a bit curious why the judge would feel the need to point out Andrea missing the top spot more than anyone else. Long OOC notes are long, I feel awkward about this.. but not doing it this way would be very OOC for Arietta. If you really don't want Andrea to have heard this, I'm willing to work with you in that Arietta could have been shouting at an empty dressing room, but Angel suggests it would be far more interesting to keep it something Andrea would have heard. ♥ 90%
